When trying to delete a repository from the Console, after it was deleted via the DBMS and not the Console initially, the error “Unable to modify database” is received.

The reason you can not create a new repository with the same name or why you can still view them for mounting is because when you drop the
repository via the DBMS you need to delete is also from the A2i_XCAT_DBS table as well.
Solution

Please delete the line in the A2i_XCAT_DBS corresponding to the
repository you are trying to delete as well.
